Listening to audiobooks has become one of my favorite ways to improve my English and being aware of the importance to practice the language every day that I decided to create our English Bites. Well, today’s Bite I’d like to share with you my latest top 4 audiobooks that I simply love and recommend. I love these books so much that they are guides to me, I’m always listening to some parts of them to remind me of my goals so I can keep track of them and stay focused.
Needless to say, that these 4 picks are my true and honest opinion, right? There’s no sponsorship or anything, actually, I’d be more than thrilled to receive money to talk about these books hahaha – but nah guys, I’m doing that because I really love them and I highly recommend you take at least a sneak peek at them alright?
So let’s get this list started and I’ll give you a quick summary of each one. I’m also sharing in the transcription and also in text on WhatsApp the link of each book in case you wanna buy it, both in Brazil or in the USA ok?
- Contagious: why things catch on – Just out of curiosity, that was my first audiobook and I got so in love with all the tips and things the author shares in the book that I have already listened to it 3 times, can you believe that? Haha
Contagious combines groundbreaking research with powerful stories. You can learn how a luxury steakhouse found popularity through the lowly cheese-steak, why anti-drug commercials might have actually increased drug use, and why more than 200 million consumers shared a video about one of the seemingly most boring products there is: a blender. If you’ve wondered why certain stories get shared, e-mails get forwarded, or videos go viral, Contagious explains why, and shows how to leverage these concepts to craft contagious content. This book provides a set of specific, actionable techniques for helping information spread—for designing messages, advertisements, and information that people will share. Whether you’re a manager at a big company, a small business owner trying to boost awareness, a politician running for office, or a health official trying to get the word out, Contagious will show you how to make your product or idea catch on
- Start with why
Simon Sinek, the author fills his book with such stories to illustrate why companies need to start with “why” and how they can go about doing so. The author also discusses what happens when companies do not start with “why”; this is the focus of the first part of his book. Through his discussions and examples, Sinek shows that starting with “why” is what defines a great leader. Although the book focuses on the business world, it shows how the principle applies to other areas of life as well, including cultural activism and even dating. As Sinek repeatedly emphasizes, “People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.”
- The subtle art of not giving a fuck – Guys this book is super amazing, promise me you’re gonna read or listen to it pleeease.
This book will turn your pain into a tool, your trauma into power and your problems into slightly better problems. This book will not teach you how to gain and achieve, but how to lose and let go.
In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to show us how to stop trying to be “positive” all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people. For decades, we’ve been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. “F**k positivity,” Mark Manson says. “Let’s be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it.” In his wildly popular Internet blog, Mason doesn’t sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is—a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The subtle art of not giving a fuck is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel-good mindset that has infected American society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.
There are only so many things we can give a f**k about so we need to figure out which ones really matter, Manson makes clear. While money is nice, caring about what you do with your life is better, because true wealth is about experience. A much-needed grab-you-by-the-shoulders-and-look-you-in-the-eye moment of real-talk, filled with entertaining stories and profane, ruthless humor, The subtle art of not giving a fuck is a refreshing slap for a generation to help them lead contented, grounded lives.
- Secrets of the millionaire mind
Another book that I’ve listened to a million times. It couldn’t be out of my list.
When I bought this audiobook some months ago, I didn’t realize I was getting a book that was about so much more than just wealth. I was given a book about changing my mindset – and it has changed my life.
Secrets of the Millionaire Mind reveals the missing link between wanting success and achieving it!
Have you ever wondered why some people seem to get rich easily, while others are destined for a life of financial struggle? Is the difference found in their education, intelligence, skills, timing, work habits, contacts, luck, or their choice of jobs, businesses, or investments? The shocking answer is: None of them!
If you are not doing as well financially as you would like, you will have to change your money blueprint. Unfortunately, your current money blueprint will tend to stay with you for the rest of your life, unless you identify and revise it, and that’s exactly what you will do with the help of this extraordinary book. According to T. Harv Eker, it’s simple. If you think like rich people think and do what rich people do, chances are you’ll get rich too!
So, guys, if you want me to come back in a couple months I can bring another list of books that I like and that I have been listening to but these ones are super great options. Now I’d like you to share with me, the best book you’ve read so far, one that helped you out and it was unforgettable in your opinion! 🙂 Let me know alright?
