Oh…. One more thing, in case you need the transcript of this English Bite, please go to www.clubedoingles.com/englishbites and look for the episode number 12.
First of all, I’d like to apologize ‘cause my voice is terrible. I’ve been a little sick in the past week but I’ll survive.
Yay, I’m back in Iowa! Our flight to the US was last night at 11pm and we arrived today in Chicago around 5am. Then, we drove 4 hours home, which by the way is in North Liberty and in case you don’t remember it is in Iowa, the heart of the American Midwest. Yep, a very small town with around 20k people living there. Oh, and it’s winter… it snowed a lot yesterday and this morning it was snowing a little in Chicago. Can you believe it’s -15 degrees Celsius now? And it feels like -27 degrees. That’s absurdly cold but in the car and at home the temperature is very comfortable since they are all heated.
I don’t know if you watched my Stories this morning but I went to a very nice diner called “Denny’s” and had breakfast there: eggs over easy, crispy bacon, wheat toast and also hash browns. I know that’s not the healthiest thing in the world but I had to, let’s say, celebrate my first meal back in the US with a very traditional meal.
I’ve just got home and I have so many things to do like returning the car we rented to drive from Chicago, unpack all we brought from Brazil and a lot of home chores. I don’t know about you, but I hate unpacking. Stay tuned on my Stories ‘cause I’m gonna share some Brazilian products I brought that I can’t live without. Ok, just a spoiler: I brought some “mandioquinha” can you believe that?
Ok a summary about my stay in Brazil: I was in there for 37 days and it was simply amazing to spend some time with the ones I love. I traveled to the countryside to visit my grandpa and godmother, I went to Santos to see my 97-year-old great-aunt and also some other relatives, I went out with my friends, visited them in their places… we also had our super awesome meet and greet in São Paulo and Santo André… it was simply perfect! And during this time, I also launched a brand-new project that you are already pretty familiar with: our English Bites!!!
If there’s something I regret, is the lack of time to see other people I couldn’t. I miss all my friends!
But I can’t complain. I had super intense days. I ate and I drank everything I wanted – and by the way, like there’s no tomorrow: coxinha, mandioquinha, farofa… I’m gonna tell you a little secret – but just between you and me ok? I’ve got 7 extra pounds while in Brazil, can you believe that? It’s insane but now I’m back home and things will hopefully go back to normal.
People usually eat more and gain weight when they come to the US. I’m the opposite, I lose weight in the US and I gain weight in Brazil, but that’s ok, I’ll go back to my routine, eat clean and exercise!
Well, yesterday was my last day in Brazil. I don’t know what to say about farewells, but just like everyone else, I simply dislike it. It’s always sad, we feel like crying… but at the same time I must confess that I have some mixed feelings about it cause, I DID MISS MY HOME SO MUCH! You know, my space, my routine, my privacy… it’s always great to travel, but it’s also good going back home!
2018 is a very promising year, not only for me, but for all of us: I really wanna help you guys with your English so I’m working on new projects that are yet to come and you can’t imagine how excited I am to share them with you all very soon. And besides, we’ll still have so many videos, posts, mini courses and a lot of different and interesting content here in our English Bites and also on my Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and my website.
Oh, and just one little curiosity: we are in different time zones now – you are 4 hours ahead of me so while I’m still having breakfast, you’re already having lunch.
Well, today’s topic was nothing super special but I wanted to share some awesome thoughts and also let you know that 2018 is starting now for me – tomorrow actually we’ll start having videos, posts and audios full of content on social media – so make sure you’re following me on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube!!!
