I must confess this topic doesn’t excite me very much but we must all agree that this is something we gotta do. When I was living in São Paulo, Brazil I used to have someone to help me clean the whole house twice a week but here in the US I would say it’s quite impossible to have one for a simple reason: costs. At least here in Iowa, the cleaning ladies charge around $30 per hour to clean your house. That would make $240 for 8 hours of service in one single day, and don’t expect a supermassive perfect cleaning the way we are used to having in Brazil. Wash bathrooms? It won’t happen.
So that’s the main reason why I do all the chores in my house. Yep, Americans are very practical and they do have tons of products that help us get rid of the dirt much easily, accessories and equipment that save us lots of time and clean perfectly. Every time I go to Walmart or any different supermarket, I take a quick look at the cleaning products aisle to see new products, the ones that are on sale… I usually check some blogs or YouTube channels to learn how Americans do some things when it comes about cleaning their homes and the products they use and I can tell you I’ve already learned a lot of different things and tricks.
But there’s something I can’t get used to doing like Americans: not washing the bathrooms. I mean, I can’t imagine myself just wiping, vacuuming and moping the bathrooms without any water, bleach, soap, sponge, water again… And the reason they can’t water the whole bathroom is that besides the floor and walls are made of wood, there’s no drain where the toilet vase and sink are. That’s the only place I don’t literally wash but I do my best to keep it super clean (especially toilet vase, right guys?). For the floor, I have a super handy high-temperature steam cleaner steamer that it’s more than perfect. I used it every day in the bathrooms and in the kitchen but for the bathtubs and showers, I literally wash and rub everything LOL
Well, I do have a to-do list with all the things I gotta do every day, every week and every month. It helps me get even more productive, keeps everything neat and tidy without feeling lazy or bored. Believe it or not, but doing the laundry is something that I like so much and no, I never throw the clothes in the washing machine and it’s over. I always separate the pieces by color and fabric (jeans and shirts never go together, the same for black clothes and white clothes) and white pieces have special treatment not only with a different detergent but also, different products and processes like soaking them for some minutes or even hours (I do love bright white linen, socks, underwear and towels)
And while most of you guys hate ironing, I’d say that’s something I like. Cleaning bathrooms are not my thing (despite doing my best and spending hours doing that every week) but ironing is something kind of pleasant and relaxing especially because I always watch some Tv shows while doing that so I don’t see the time passing. And yeah, I do have to iron guys, my husband has to wear formal attire to go to work every day but jeans, T-Shirts, blouses and other everyday pieces, I hang right after taking them from the dryer which is awesome and super convenient.
Doing the dishes, making the bed, vacuuming, moping and organizing my house are some of my daily tasks and I always do it before I start my crazy work routine of writing, shooting, planning, editing and much more! I can’t complain, I love taking care of my house. What about you guys? Are you the ones who do everything at home as well? Do you like doing those things? Why don’t you write a composition about it? It will be nice to review some vocabulary here!
